“Death’s Compassion” depicts the supposed afterlife for lost souls. It is believed that when the living self dies, and all the selves had been in disarray during life, the remaining selves are taken to the Land of Mists after meeting Death. Given that the souls have no permanent body, Death offers a Veil so that the lost may perhaps find their way.
